PTA’s own page for this check, published on 1 June 2023 and still live when we read it on 28 August 2026, gives one route per network. Jazz: SMS your CNIC to 6001, from a SIM registered against that same CNIC. Telenor: any SMS, even a blank one, to 7751. Zong: the letter V to 7911, free. Ufone: dial *336# and choose 1. Every reply describes verification status only — whether the SIM is biometrically registered — never a name or an address.

What “verification status” actually means
Every SIM sold in Pakistan is registered against a CNIC, and in the biometric era that registration is confirmed on a fingerprint device at the operator’s counter. The device is the BVS — Biometric Verification System. A SIM whose registration passed that fingerprint match is “verified”. The codes on this page ask your network one question — has this SIM passed? — and answer yes or no in the operator’s own words. The system itself is explained in our biometric verification (BVS) guide.
People run the check for practical reasons. A warning SMS threatens blocking and you want to know where you stand. A SIM bought years ago, before fingerprints were compulsory, may never have been re-verified. A franchise visit is coming, and knowing your status first saves a trip. And some arrive after an unknown-SIM scare — worried a stranger’s SIM sits on their CNIC — which is really the count check covered further down, not a status code.

Jazz: CNIC to 6001
Send your 13-digit CNIC number by SMS to 6001 — and send it from a SIM that is itself registered against that same CNIC. The reply carries the verification status of the numbers on your CNIC. PTA’s page still writes “Mobilink”, the brand’s old name, which matters for dating the list; more on that in the next section.
Telenor: any SMS to 7751
Send any SMS, even a blank one, to 7751. The reply says whether the SIM you sent it from is BVS-verified. The same PTA page adds a second Telenor code: 7750 returns the nearest Telenor office or retailer — useful if the first answer ends up sending you to a counter.
Zong: the letter V to 7911
SMS the single letter V to 7911. PTA’s page lists this one as free of charge, and the reply is a check of your verified numbers. It is the shortest message on this page: one letter, no CNIC required.
Ufone: dial *336#
This one is a dial code, not an SMS. Dial *336# and a menu appears; choose 1, and the verification status of your own number comes back on screen. Ufone’s everyday codes for balance, packages and finding your own number live in our Ufone number check code guide.
Warid: CNIC to 789 (legacy)
PTA’s page lists Warid as its own network: SMS your CNIC to 789 from the primary verified number, for the status of the numbers against that CNIC. Warid rides on the Jazz network today, so treat 789 as the legacy route — and do not be surprised if the practical answer now comes through Jazz’s channels.
How old this list is — an honest note
The page names “Mobilink” and lists Warid separately, yet both merged into today’s Jazz years before the page’s own 1 June 2023 publication date. That tells you where the list descends from: the biometric re-verification drive, when every operator had to push its subscribers through fingerprint checks and each ran a status shortcode to cope.
PTA still had the page live — Mobilink name and all — when we read it on 28 August 2026, which is exactly why we list these codes and nothing else. But an operator may answer a code differently today, or not at all. If a code stays silent, do not keep resending. The route that works in every era is a biometric check with your original CNIC at the operator’s franchise, covered below.
Status is not a name
Every code above answers a yes/no question. None of them — 6001, 7751, 7911, *336# or 789 — returns a name, an address or a full CNIC, and no code anywhere reveals a stranger’s record. Section 16 of PECA 2016 treats obtaining another person’s identity information without authorisation as an offence, carrying up to three years in prison, a fine of up to Rs 5,000,000, or both.
Your own record has two official windows. From the SIM itself, SMS “MNP” to 667: the reply shows that SIM’s number, registered name, often-masked CNIC, IMSI, activation date and connection type. For the count of SIMs on your CNIC, SMS the CNIC to 668 (about Rs 2 including tax) or use the free portal cnic.sims.pk. If the reply says “not verified” — or nothing comes back
An unverified answer means the registration behind your SIM has no confirmed biometric match, a state that can end in blocking. The fix is not another SMS. Take your original CNIC — not a photocopy — to the operator’s nearest franchise or customer service centre and ask for biometric verification. The agent runs your thumb on the BVS device, and the record updates against your CNIC there and then.
Silence deserves the same response. A code from a re-verification-era list may simply be retired on your network, and ten more attempts change nothing. What does “BVS verified” mean?
BVS is the Biometric Verification System — the fingerprint device at operator counters. A SIM is BVS-verified when its registration was confirmed biometrically against a CNIC: your thumb matched the record NADRA holds for that CNIC. A SIM that never went through that match, or failed it, shows as unverified and can face blocking.
Is 7911 free?
Yes, per the source. PTA’s verification-status page, published 1 June 2023 and still live on 28 August 2026, lists the Zong check — the letter V to 7911 — as free of charge. The page states no price for the other networks’ codes, so on those, expect a standard SMS charge unless your operator says otherwise.

Can these codes show the owner’s name?
No. Every code on this page answers only whether a SIM is verified. The single official route to a registered name is “MNP” to 667, sent from the SIM itself, and it shows that SIM’s own record only. Going after another person’s identity information without authorisation is an offence under Section 16 of PECA 2016, punishable with up to three years in prison, a fine of up to Rs 5,000,000, or both.
